Overview

How Scripture describes God's love for us. John 3:16, Romans 8, 1 John 4 with questions and an action plan.

Key passages

John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Romans 8:38-39 – "For I am convinced that neither death nor life … nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

1 John 4:8 – "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

Reflection

God's love is not passive; He gave His Son. His love is secure; nothing can separate us from it. And His love is the source of our ability to love others.

Questions for reflection

  • When have you felt most aware of God's love for you?
  • What would change if you lived each day believing that nothing can separate you from His love?
  • How can you show God's love to someone else this week?

Action plan

  • Memorize John 3:16 or Romans 8:38-39 and say it when you pray.
  • Read 1 John 4 on Bible.com and note how God's love and our love for others are connected.
  • Do one act of love for someone who is hard to love, as a response to God's love for you.
