Overview

A journey through Scripture exploring God's names—El Shaddai, Yahweh, Shepherd, Father—and what each reveals about His character. With reflection questions and an action plan.

Key passages

Exodus 3:14 – "God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM.'"

Genesis 22:14 – "So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide (Yahweh Yireh)."

Psalm 23:1 – "The Lord is my shepherd (Yahweh Roi)."

Isaiah 9:6 – "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

John 8:58 – "Jesus said … 'Before Abraham was born, I am!'"

Reflection

Each name of God reveals something of His nature: Provider, Shepherd, Peace, and ultimately the I AM who is with us. Jesus carries the name above all names.

Questions for reflection

  • Which of God's names speaks most to you in this season? Why?
  • How does knowing God as "I AM" change the way you face uncertainty?
  • In what area do you need to trust Him as Provider or Shepherd this week?

Action plan

  • Memorize one of the verses above and say it when you pray this week.
  • Read Exodus 3 and John 8 on Bible.com and note how "I AM" connects Old and New Testament.
  • Tell one person how one of God's names has encouraged you recently.
